Al Balad Development Company

As one of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) wholly owned companies, BDC serves as the heritage-focused master developer and asset manager for Al Balad. Our mission is to revive Historical Jeddah – a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site – covering a total area of 2,500 million square meters.

The establishment of the company is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to develop Historical Jeddah (Al Balad). This initiative commenced under His Royal Highness's guidance in 2019 and aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to position itself as a global destination.

At BDC, we believe that cultural and architectural heritage plays an important role in building prosperous and sustainable societies. Therefore, we are focused on providing an experience based on the history of the Al Balad area, which dates back more than 2,500 years. By restoring the vibrant, creative community and the economic centre that the area enjoyed historically, we revive and transform it into a global historical, cultural and tourist destination.
