Aramco seeks additional export routes, overseas storage capacity: CEO

Saudi Aramco continues to explore additional export routes as it works to expand its storage capacity outside the Kingdom to ensure uninterrupted supplies to global markets, said President and CEO Amin Nasser.

In comments to Nikkei Asia, as reported by media outlets, Nasser said Aramco currently has three main oil export routes. It is exploring the potential development of a fourth and fifth route as part of its strategy to enhance supply network resilience and reduce risks associated with shipping lanes.

He noted that Aramco has several options that enable it to meet customer needs without interruption. It continues to supply global markets with oil and petroleum products normally despite the challenges facing the global energy sector amid ongoing regional tensions.

The East-West Pipeline is not limited to a single line but consists of a network of pipelines that provides significant flexibility in transporting crude oil and petroleum products, the CEO said.

The Saudi oil giant can withstand and mitigate severe disruptions within days, thanks to its advanced infrastructure and operational expertise, he added.

Nasser said global energy markets could face further pressure, noting that the potential scale of supply disruptions is significant rather than limited.

This could exacerbate challenges facing global energy markets and further underscore the importance of ensuring stable and reliable oil flows to consuming markets. Accordingly, Aramco is seriously considering alternative oil export options amid current geopolitical developments
