Ministry of Municipalities and Housing (MOMAH) announced that the total area of developed and traded white land in Makkah reached about 28 million square meters (sqm), as part of the implementation of the White Land and Vacant Property Fees Law, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The ministry said the areas included 13 million square meters of completed developments; nine million sqm of white land that entered the trading market; and five million sqm of land still under development.
Revenue from white land fees contributed to supporting 14 development and housing projects in Makkah, the ministry added. It noted that the White Land and Vacant Property Fees Law continues to incentivize the development of idle lands within designated geographical areas, while granting regulatory grace periods to eligible owners committed to development in line with the enforced technical requirements.
The ministry also noted that the total developed and traded white land areas reached about 71 million sqm in Riyadh and 146 million sqm in the Eastern Province.
