Dr. Fuad bin Ahmed Alshikhmubarak, CEO of the National Water Company (NWC), affirmed that the Cabinet’s approval to designate 2027 as the “Year of Water” embodies the care and support the water sector receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them both. Dr. Alshikhmubarak noted that the naming reflects the sector’s pivotal role as a fundamental pillar in community development and in meeting the needs of citizens and residents.
Alshikhmubarak explained that this resolution aligns with the Kingdom’s key economic and social development priorities and strengthens collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the sector to keep pace with the growing demand for water, its resources, and operations.
He noted that this generous gesture from the wise leadership supports implementing the National Water Strategy (NWS) and its associated strategic programs and initiatives, adding that designating 2027 as the “Year of Water” will serve as a national and economic catalyst for the high-quality projects and initiatives being implemented by the Kingdom’s water sector.
The NWC, CEO concluded by stating that the National Water Company will continue – God willing – its efforts to develop services and deliver them to beneficiaries in various regions of the Kingdom, in a manner that achieves the sector’s objectives and suits a year named after water.
