SFDA Participates in 43rd Meeting of CODEX

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), participated in the 43rd meeting of the main committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CODEX), which was held virtually during the period from 24 to 26 September, in the presence of the Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, and Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Dr. QU Dongyu, with the participation of more than 800 participants from representatives of member states and international organizations, in addition to non-governmental organizations.
It is noteworthy that CODEX was established in 1963 by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization, and includes 189 members and 237 observers. It holds its annual meetings to approve standards to ensure food safety and quality.
