The Thailand International Mega Fair 2025 – Riyadh (3rd Edition) commenced with senior dignitaries from Thailand and Saudi Arabia reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. The opening ceremony underscored the expanding commercial relationship between the two nations and the growing momentum of Thai–Saudi engagement across multiple high-potential sectors.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Visit Limlurcha, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, highlighted the substantial progress in Thai–Saudi relations since the full restoration of diplomatic ties. He emphasized the fair’s role as a strategic, government-supported platform for advancing trade, investment, tourism, and emerging industries that contribute to the long-term economic partnership of both countries.
Mr. Osama Kokandy, Chairman of the Saudi–Thai Business Council, the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, noted the continued upward trajectory of bilateral trade—exceeding USD 8 billion in 2024—and praised the strong institutional cooperation that enables deeper business engagement. He emphasized that the fair serves as a vital mechanism for facilitating new commercial opportunities and enhancing private-sector cooperation between Thai and Saudi enterprises.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sakran, Deputy Governor for International Relations of the General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT), highlighted the significant progress in economic cooperation between Thailand and Saudi Arabia. He noted that trade volume over the past five years has reached nearly USD 40 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 9%. He emphasized that the re-establishment of the Saudi–Thai Joint Business Council serves as a key platform to enhance business engagement, facilitate joint initiatives, and expand opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the two nations.
Representing the Royal Thai Government, Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Vice Minister for Commerce, reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s position as a key economic partner for Thailand in the Middle East, with bilateral trade reaching USD 7.76 billion in 2024. She emphasized the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment to supporting Thai businesses in expanding their presence in the Saudi market and deepening long-term cooperation built on mutual economic interests.
