Mawani signs SAR 2B Jubail container terminal concession

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed on Monday a concession agreement with Saudi Global Ports (SGP) for the operation of the container terminal at Jubail Commercial Port, involving investments exceeding SAR 2 billion.

According to a statement issued by Mawani, the project aims to increase the terminal’s annual handling capacity from 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) to 2.4 million TEUs, while equipping it with 39 automated and environmentally friendly cranes.

The project also includes deepening the berths to 18 meters to accommodate next-generation vessels, while the total berth length will be expanded to 1,400 meters following the development works.

The project is expected to deliver several economic benefits, including enabling the container terminal to receive large next-generation ships, enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening the competitiveness of Jubail Commercial Port, and reinforcing its position as a logistics gateway that supports the Kingdom’s sustainable growth.
